Egnyte Hybrid Cloud is a data storage solution that blends the features and functionality of local network attached (NAS) and cloud storage. It offers many advantages to business and enterprise customers, who typically have multiple different users working remotely with many files. The Hybrid Cloud works as a secure online hard drive that offers continuous file backup, storage, file sharing capabilities, and mobile access.

Unlike physical standalone hard drives, Egnyte Hybrid Cloud offers features such as file sharing, large file transfer, file versioning, and remote access. The online hard drive also means that small business can enjoy enterprise-class data storage features without expensive server installation costs and overhead.

Another defining feature of Egnyte is its user-friendly interface. Even a small business without extensive IT support can work with Egnyte. The file upload process is quick and simple. From there, it is easy to view and edit individual files, assign user permissions, or lock files. You can also synchronize your online Egnyte server with your local NAS device, thus allowing offline data access and an efficient way to handle large files.

Egnyte offers plans for Group, Office, and Business clients, with an additional Enterprise plan available with custom features and pricing. Plan features are tiered according to the number of employees they are designed to accommodate; the Office plan, for example, is designed for ten employees and comes with 1 TB of storage. Each plan comes with additional user and storage add-ons.

Your Recommended Storage Plan:

Egnyte is not recommended for individual or family users, since the software is geared toward small business or enterprises. The Group plan comes with all the standard features and security. The Office plan adds FTP support. The Business plan adds Outlook integration. The Enterprise plan comes with everything in the Business plan plus powerful professional and marketing tools as well as premium support. The key is to select the plan that fits your needs.

Safety & Security:

Egnyte offers industry-leading privacy and security. Each step of the data upload, storage, and transmission process is protected by the most up-to-date firewall and router technology, SSL encryption, user authentication, and network intrusion detection. In addition, Egnyte's physical servers are situated in 24-hour manned facilities outfitted with the most current security features.

Value:

For a small business, Egnyte offers a very good service at affordable prices. The most basic Group plan works out to $5 per employee per month. The Office and Business plans are costlier, but they are priced proportionally to the features they offer. If you are considering the highest-tier plan, the Enterprise plan, it is recommended that you compare other plans of the same caliber because the plan is customizable and the pricing thus depends on the features you need.

Please note that plans must be purchased by the year.

Customer Support:

Egnyte offers a variety of help and support resources. Customers can seek answers to their questions by consulting the FAQ, user forums, demos, videos, and informational articles written by the site's own expert panel. For issues that need human assistance, customer support representatives are available 24/7 via email and also by phone during regular Pacific Time business hours. If there's one thing Egnyte could improve, however, it would be to add live-chat capability.

Bottom Line:

Egnyte is a solid choice for small business and branch offices. For Enterprise-level customers, however, a price and feature comparison may prove beneficial. Egnyte is certainly unique in offering hybrid local and cloud storage, and the big names on its clientele list can attest to its success and effectiveness.
